Some railroads are abandoned and serve as back roads to traveling between places. However, some are still active, for be sure to watch your step and keep your ears open.

Dietrich turned over on his new mattress, shifting to get more comfortable. It didn't take him long though-for this one was still in good condition. The previous one that he had, well lets just say that it bit the dust. And it had- he had slept on that thing until it was flat enough to reach the floor. There had been only so long that he could take it before he got up off his ass and gathered a new one. Despite how comfortable it was, a deep annoyed exhale left him before he popped his eyes open. "Damn."

Dresden walked along the tracks, listening and keeping her footfall light, which was odd that she could considering how many layers of cloth hung from her shoulders and the pack she carried. Her breath created a steady stream of fog through the air, one layer of the cloth acting as her hood, and she rubbed her gloved hands together, blowing on her fingers as they were exposed. She just had to find a few more things and she could head towards the closest city and earn a little more, but where to find it was the problem.
Her eyes darted to a small shack that seemed to come out of nowhere, but only had peeked through the thick brush growing around it. With deft hands, Dres reached for the sharp knife that hung around her neck and pulled another dagger from her belt. She wasn't one to lash out, but she wasn't going to take a chance.

Dietrich sat up after a few minutes of soundlessly cursing the fact that he couldn't sleep. Although it didn't help that he wasn't properly prepared for the bursts of winter wind that was creeping day by day with no sense of warning. Sitting straighter he placed a hand on his neck, a pop following a moment later. There, all the kinks were out-for now. He stopped as he heard some snow crunch outside the far wall and he silently went to grab his gun which had taken up the small space beside the mattress. With a hard gaze he raised it and aimed it at the door, waiting.

Hearing movement, Dres cursed quietly and darted for the other side of the railroad, grabbing a branch and cover her tracks as she went, sliding through the snow and took refuge behind a stone. She expected someone, but the sound of the foot fall came off as someone she didn't want to put up with. Her knives returned to both hands as she leaned against the rock, looking over her shoulder and at the door. She took a deep breath to steady her breathing and silenced it, poised to react.

Hearing footsteps turn into the opposite direciton and then nothing a few minutes later, Dietrich slowly pushed the door open. A small creak was heard as it was cracked. He stuck the barrel of his gun out first, eyes peering around shortly after. Spotting nothing he stepped forward, pushing the wood farther open. Narrowed eyes traveled around the tracks, looking for any sign for whoever may have been outside in the previous moments. After determining that there was still no sign, the barrel lowered but only slightly.

Peeking around the stone, she spotted the man and his gun, snapping back behind the rock and letting out a breath of air. She wasn't seen or found. Slowly she moved, going to crawl away a few feet to stand, but she bit back a yelp as a small fox darted out of the brush and she scrambled back against the stone. "Damn fox...!" she hissed under her breath, listening closely. "Damn it."

Due to the sound the fox had made, his gun immediately came back up and he let out a shot. Hearing it land, he walked forward to see if he had managed to get it or not.
"Damn fox...!" "Damn it."
He paused a moment, remembering something. Shaking his head he continued on, he was still a little hungover after last night. His feet carried him right by her, not even noticed-or so it appeared. Once he had reached the fox he tilted his head pleased that he had managed to get this one. A hand reached out to grab it by the tail before he turned it around to examine it with a tight frown. "You going to come out?"

Dres immediately recoiled at the shot, falling still, hands tightening around her knives, stony eyes wide and trained on the fox. Shit shit shit shit, her mind ran. Her muscles coiled as she heard footsteps, pressing herself back against the stone as her eyes followed the form from the corner of them to when she could see clearly. She held her breath.
"You going to come out?"
She moved slowly, standing and pushing herself back onto the stone, then twisted and dropped to the other side, putting the boulder between her and the man, her footsteps crunching in the snow. "Just don't shoot me," she murmured hiding the knives and her hands under the cloth that draped on her shoulders, her hood sitting halfway on her head and revealing the near white hair underneath.

"Just don't shoot me,"
Dietrich turned around to look at her. "Now what on earth gave you that idea?" asked sarcastically. "Should I shoot you? Although I'm guessing that you were the one sneaking around my shack. " he trotted back the way he came, gun in one hand-fox in the other.

"Now what on earth gave you that idea?"
"You're a man, with a gun, who just shot something that moved," Dres ventured, taking a step back. "Obviously the most logical thing would be to suspect you'll shoot me."
"Should I shoot you? Although I'm guessing that you were the one sneaking around my shack. "
She snorted and shook her head. "Don't jump to conclusions, buddy. I was just passing through. Had I known there was someone living nearby, I would've taken the longer route around." Now her gaze had hardened a little to cover her wariness, determined not to appear weak. She was a smuggler, a nomad-- this man shouldn't be a big deal to handle. But, she couldn't explain the vibe her intuition was picking up on.

"And your point is?" His eyebrow raised at her as he reached the rock. "I needed the fox so I shot it. Doesn't mean anything. " he stared at her as if it was the simplest thing in the world. Although he would never admit that he had been after the fox for days now.
"Don't jump to conclusions, buddy. I was just passing through. Had I known there was someone living nearby, I would've taken the longer route around."
"I wasn't. But passing through means following the tracks. Not spooking foxes by making so much noise." he continued on his way, stepping inside the shack.

Her jaw ticked as she watched him, keeping a few feet between them at all times.
"I wasn't. But passing through means following the tracks. Not spooking foxes by making so much noise."
"I don't follow the tracks," she countered, then made a noise of disbelief and gestured to the fox. "And I wasn't making any sound! The damn thing started when it saw me move. It's not my fault it shouldn't have been hiding in the bushes."

"HEY! Don't blame the fox for you getting caught. You moved first. And you we're behind a rock. So you're no better. "

"At least I had enough sense to stay away from a gun," she grumbled, putting her knives away. She remained outside the shack, letting her hands become hidden again by her clothes as she watched him take the fox. Grumbling to herself she turned away , pulling her hood back up and took a step forward, half the mind to leave the man be and to his own devices.
