Dietrich eyes trailed sideways as she sped up to walk with him. After a moment he looked forward again. "Have you ever been on the tracks before?"

"Have you ever been on the tracks before?"
"More than once, yes," she murmured. "They're my mine line of travel between the cities." Spotting one of her landmarks, she stepped off the tracks, coming to a V in the path. "We're going right, but don't touch the tracks. This one is still in use."

Dietrich followed her, his gaze shooting up at the statement. "Yes I know that." he said dismissively. How could he not know that, being here since he was born and all. "You didn't think all my supplies just walked in did you?"

"You didn't think all my supplies just walked in did you?"
She bristled. "Christ, I'm not a mind reader or someone who reads a person's past, damn it." She stayed several feet away from the tracks. "When the train comes, we'll be catching a ride on it." Her voice was lower and she kept her gaze from him.
No, she didn't think his supplies walked, obviously. And she knew (unconsciously) that he had known about the tracks. But his snarky tone smade her bristle. Maybe because it was similar to the one she used with him.

"Fine Ms. Sourpuss. Have it your way. " He retorted before he sat down on the side of the tracks. He didn't know why she seemed to be rubbed the wrong way by a single statement, but he didn't mean anything by it. Silently he began putting his other things in the bag with her things that he had brought for her. After a moment he started whistling an old tune that he learned growing up.

"Fine Ms. Sourpuss. Have it your way. "
She made a face, standing a few feet away as she scanned the sky, then the trees, muffling a cough with her scarf. Her gaze flicked to him as he started whistling and she made another face, looking down the tracks.

Dietrich trailed his eyes up to her when she didn't say anything before he frowned. After a moment he thought of something that made him grin. "Hoom Hoom Hoom Hoom Hoom Hoom Hoom Hoom." he chanted softly but clear enough in a way that made it come out eerie.

"Hoom Hoom Hoom Hoom Hoom Hoom Hoom Hoom."
Her eyes flicked to him, her expression incredulous with her brows creased. She felt a sense of familiarity within the tune, but she didn't show it.

Dietrich continued singing onto the next verse, just to give him something to do while they waited. It didn't appear that she was going to talk anytime soon. "I'ma go down to the railroad track and it ain't gonna rockin, no it ain't going back Summer leavin town and it ain't goin' back no more. "

She listened, looking away with pursed lips. The song was definitely familiar. Where had she heard it before?

He continued another verse, finishing the last couple lines as the train pulled up. He watched it, standing before it had even come to a rest.

Dres looked at the train as it pulled up, then gestured for him to follow. "This way." She trotted down a few cars, gauging, then spotted one that was opened and jumped inside.
"Oi, if it isn't D-Gray the Nomad," a man inside grinned, pulling her to her feet with his hand remaining in hers in a shake, patting her arm. "I didn't think you were going to make this drop considering you missed the last one."
"Tobe," she murmured with a small flicker of annoyance crossing her gaze. "I was held up."
He chuckled then looked towards where Dietrich climbed up. "Oh, traveling with a fella now?" His gaze slid back to Dres. "Ya know he's gonna cost extra."
"Shut your trap," she grumbled, "I know." She pulled off her pack and pulled out an unopened carton of Marlboros and a pack of batteries, tossing them to him. "Here. That should last you a while."
Tobe let out a whistle of admiration. "Man, you always snag the good stuff. Tell me, what's your secret?" He started inspecting the box, then the batteries, giving a nod of approval.
"Nothing a dog like you needs to know."
"Ooo, ouch. Someone's in a sour mood again." He looked back at the man. "What'd you do to make her so sour?"

"Oi, if it isn't D-Gray the Nomad," "I didn't think you were going to make this drop considering you missed the last one." "Tobe," "I was held up."
Dietrich climbed up after her. Once he was standing he looked around, eyes landing on the other male in the room.
"Oh, traveling with a fella now?" "Ya know he's gonna cost extra." "Shut your trap," "I know.""Here. That should last you a while."
He frowned when she handed over the box but didn't say anything. He couldn't say he was surprised, more like annoyed that someone had to pay to get on the train. My train...
"Man, you always snag the good stuff. Tell me, what's your secret?" "Nothing a dog like you needs to know." "Ooo, ouch. Someone's in a sour mood again." "What'd you do to make her so sour?"
He looked over at the male with a blank face, merely shrugging. He saw no reason to talk to the boy so he wouldn't. Whether the boy took it as him ignoring him or not, well that was his issue.

Tobe frowned, "Man, you had to bring a sour apple with you when you're sour enough?" He looked at Dres, who moved and sat down against the wall, setting her pack beside her.
"Take a seat," she murmured as her gaze slid to Dietrich, and catching his look, added, "Riding in his car costs a few batteries or smokes. The box is for something else." Then to Tobe, "Will you stop complaining and cough up the information, yeah?"
Tobe snorted and sat on his pallet made of worn blanket with a box beside of it, settling down. "Always so short, Gray. You need to liven up a bit." He placed his Marlboros in the box and sat against the wall, kicking the sliding door closed. "What do you want first?"
"Give me the exchange rankings."
"Cigarettes are still at the top of the wants, batteries are third. Matches, lighters, and gas is all tied for second."
"What about the news inside the cities?"
"Stay away from Locheshead. You thought the before routes were awful, now they're inaccessible. They've placed guards on each suspected route and have started snuffing out the black market. If you're going to trade, go to New Chicago or one of the cities along the tracks. That, or go to Camp Cod or Fort Wynn. Word has it they're looking for inhabitants too, and will pay well for work."
"I'm not looking for a place to settle," she saidly lowly, and Tobe raised his hands in defense.
"I'm just passing on the information as you asked."
