"Well Taliesin, my name is Charles Rockwell. But I prefer Charlie. Only Nina still calls me that. You have a child."
"Had," she corrected quickly, though her voice was soft as she studied her hands that were clasped in her lap. "He died three years ago."

"He died three years ago."
"It must have been hard for you. "Charlie tilted his head to look at her. Giving a small smile he exhaled. "I'm sure he was beautiful. "

"It must have been hard for you. I'm sure he was beautiful. "
"The hardest. I don't think anything can compare." she replied quietly, then gave a quiet laugh. "He was. Honey brown hair like his father, and he somehow held on to the green eyes of my family." Tae gave a on-shoulder shrug. "He was my world. Even at two he seemed to understand the world better than I did. He always tried to make everyone smile, and he hardly cried." She lifted a hand and wiped her cheek. "I've never really gotten over losing him. I don't think I ever will."

"Kids do that." He let out a small chuckle. So that's what she didn't look like. "As for the rest. You won't get over it. And nothing will compare to losing someone important."

"Yeah," she murmured, then ran a hand through her hair as she took a breath. "Unfortunately, that's the world we live in."

"The world was already harsh. People just didn't see it as such." He looked away from her, gaze traveling to the corner of the room.

"The world was already harsh. People just didn't see it as such."
Taliesin sat in silence a long moment, studying her hands. "If only things were different."

If only things were different."
"If. Thats the word. If only my parents weren't gone. If my sister didn't have stalkers. If the world wasn't ending. "He let loose an empty laugh. "If I wasn't afraid of cars. If I hadn't gotten my friends killed. "

Taliesin looked at him slowly, surprised that he had opened up. Her eyes softened after a moment. "You've had it worse," she remarked quietly, and reached out and gave his shoulder a gentle squeeze. "You're a fighter, that's certain."font]

You've had it worse," "You're a fighter, that's certain."
"I'm merely a empty shell of who I once was." He turned his head towards the hand, only barely regeristing that it was there. "So what color hair do you have?"

"I'm merely a empty shell of who I once was."
"Aren't we all?" she pulled her hand away.
"So what color hair do you have?"
Tae looked down with a small laugh of realization. "I thought you were blind," she said gently, though her hand rose and twirled a strand of blue black hair through her fingers, vaguely remembering what it once was. "Now, black. If you asked me years ago, I'd tell you auburn. And it's grown in length since then."

"Yeah? So I've been found out. Hmm that's a first." He gave a ghost of a smile. "Black hair suits you better if you ask me."

"What makes you say that?"
"Just can't imagine you with Auburn hair. Though you shouldn't take my word for it." He looked forward before letting loose a laugh. "I don't know how far you would have gotten, not with that in the room. "He pointed at the small piano in the middle of the room.

She followed his finger, studying the piano. "What do you mean?"
