The world had descended into chaos after a world war had broken out over territory, borderlines, and laws that had become outrageous. The war consumed most and sent life spiraling down. After the war came the shortages and the large exodus out of the harder hit areas. Martial law took over and staked its claim, forcing survivors into refugee camps and cities renovated with a ration card system put into place. The system became unfair, and the distribution of supplies, food and water descended into a famine. Cities fell, camps were destroyed, people began the onslaught against each other just to survive. Some managed to stay together and made their own communities to safeguard and keep themselves alive, but the next wave was something they least expected.
Disease and plagues ravaged the world killing thousands. People were forced to flee on their own, and those who couldn't tried to contain the outbreaks, but many attempts failed. Thieves, bandits, and gangs started preying on the weak, taking over what once was safe havens against the outside world. Now years later, the world is still struggling, anarchy and martial law taking over what used to be democracy and republics. Some head dogs declare themselves kings, and even still wars break out against territory and rebellions against these self-proclaimed rulers. Nomads have become a common site, and things only heard about in stories – rogues, barbarians, thieves – have escaped their fairy tales and slipped into reality.
But things haven't stopped there.
Things of unknown origins have began their rise, and the monsters of ghost stories and cheap horror movies have started the beginning of the end. Poltergeists, possessions, dark spirits of the horsemen and the beings from the pits of hell have come to prey on the declining humans and return the world to the burning inferno it had been born from. To survive, some humans have become witch hunters, rangers, exterminators, and exorcists in an attempt to stop the inevitable. But little do they realize, all that remains for the end to rise is the wait for the horsemen's awakening.
