"Old man?" "Pfft, you're not old, or in the way. It'd be cool having you aboard sometime, pops." "Sometimes it gets boring with jabber mouth Tobe." "Yeah, course. Thanks." Dietrich paused and turned to look at him with eyes widening ever the slightest. There was no way that he could've found out. After a few minutes he covered it up by laughing. "He does seem like a handful. Not someone that I would ever associate with. And I might do that, soon. I'm sorry I haven't been around as much as I used to. "

Adam's expression brightened. "Next time you need a ride, look for mine, and you can help me on some runs."

Next time you need a ride, look for mine, and you can help me on some runs."
Dietrich felt something inside him crack and his mouth twitched, trying to to show anything other than a teasing smile. "I may do that then. " he walked out the door. "See you later." he shut the door and kept walking forward.

"I may do that then. See you later."
Adam watched him go, face dimming And smile fading a little as he turned and checked the foyer and loaded some extra coals up.
Tobe sat, watching Dres as she slept to try to understand her, which was something that he did all of the time she rode. He never understood her questions, yet he had answers, never understood why she would always choose this car even though the rest of the train was free. There were numerous things that he didn't understand or know about her, and for an information broker to not know anything was a tick that drove one mad.
"Just who are you, kid?" He murmured to himself, arms crossed and face twisted in thought.

I'm sorry kid. Shaking his head, he didn't know why he did that. There was a reason that he had cut off connections to the kid and the train. Even if it had made him miserable, even more so than he was. He makes his way through the cars to the one that Toby and the girl were in. He slid the door open and stepped inside the car.

Tobe looked over, nodding. "Welcome back, hoss."

"Welcome back, hoss." Dietrich grunted before looking over at Dres.

He followed his gaze, arms remaining crossed. "Tell me, if I may," he started, "how did you end up traveling with her?"
"Why don't you mind your own Damned business?" Dres grumbled, shifting just a little as sshehuddled under her cloths.
"Snappy," he grumbled.
"Have to be with a nosy ass like you."
Tobe snorted. "Go back to sleep."

"You have an answer so I suggest you close your mouth."

"You have an answer so I suggest you close your mouth."
Tone made a face, pulling out a book. "Two peas in a pod," he grumbled and turned to his marked place. "Snappy and cold."
Dres ignored him, coughing again quietly and curled up. By now, she looked nothing more than a mass of cloth as she kept facing the wall. That was something she hated about Tobe-- his nosy attitude. He always asked questions, always wanted answers. And yet it was his car she felt safer in than the others.

"Two peas in a pod," "Snappy and cold." Dietrich ignored him and sat down across from the girl, watching her. He wondered how much longer it would be before he either got annoyed and left, or got bored.

After some time and several stops of the train, Tobe gathered his things and stood when they stopped again, nodding towards Dres. "Here's my stop. A few more and you'll be at New Chicago." He turned to the door and opened it as she raised her hand a little, waving him on. "Just keep your eyes open, kid. Things aren't getting any better."
She turned her head enough to look over her shoulder at Tobe, gray eyes unwavering and unchanging as he got off and closed the door again, turning back towards the wall and remaining silent.

"Here's my stop. A few more and you'll be at New Chicago."
Dietrich looked up, watching him get off. Good riddance. He was glad that the boy was gone, he had done nothing short of pestering him. And of course he had ignored him completely. It had been rather boring since she hardly spoke, merely stared at the wall as she was doing now. He had almost considered going up to visit Adam again, the trip was that long. But he didn't for certain reasons. Once the door was shut he turned his gaze to Dres. "You must be tired. Hardly said a thing."

"You must be tired. Hardly said a thing."
She scoffed and slowly sat up. "I'm fine." A hand lifted and pulled her hood down as she reached and pulled out her canteen from her hidden vest. She took a drink, swishing the contents around inside after a moment.

"I'm fine."
"I see that. A wallflower in her natural state. " says trying to get a rouse out of her.
